Well then hello everybody ~ I really dunno what to say D: It’s my first time on blog like this so please be nice to me and don’t laugh at my english T^T~
School gives me some pwnage but i’m doing my best to make Boku no on time. Pray for my soul XD
By the way i have to buy a new scanner, that’s mainly why:
See the scann on the left? Thats the way he works now;;. On the right I used some leveling but still it “ate” a lot of lines and they look crispy.
Anyone of you have any idea what scanner would be the best? Like brands (Cannon, Plustek, HP, etc.. ) what about resolution and other? Any tips would be very helpfull. Oh and don’t forget i’m starving student and my budget is low T^T

Aaah, the inks look really lovely! I really wish I could pull of facial expressions as effortlessly as you seem to be able to. TT___TT Anyway, I wish I could help you with the scanners, but, really, I have no idea… As long as it works, I can live with it. (I’m using an Epson right now.)

I thought about epson. But in poland decent epson products prices are… *i would rather buy a dollfie for that price T_T * So i guess i have to try with other brands ;_; Well mine likes to cut half of the scann or just stops in the middle of scanning or gives me pretty bright (almost not visible) image so after six years it’s about time to change it T_T; anyways cant wait to see something from you *-*=

About the scanner… sorry I can’t recommend any, since I do all my work digitally now. I had an old HP, but as far as I know, apparently Canon scanners are the best of the best.
Also, I think you scan in grayscale? You should try scanning in 1bit b/w and high resolution (like 600 dpi?) ^_^ you may get different results.

Well, depends on the size of your originals, but… Since I do a lot of big drawings and originals, I have a Mustek A3 USB which is double the size of a normal cheap scanner. It’s an ancient model, you can get one really cheap these days (something like $100 in the US?). The scan quality with lineart is good compared to the price. It only gives you optical 300×600 dpi (whatever that x600 means) but that’s enough for scanning lineart to print. It can’t do color well though, and won’t postprocess the scan. But it’s always better to adjust levels in photoshop anyway.
The black and white setting in a scanner is just post-processing. The scanner has only one analog scanning method and that gives a grey-scale result. So if you want one-bit b/w result, it’s better to do it in photoshop, since photoshop’s algorithm for doing that is way better than what cheap scanners use.

Send me the 400 and I’ll take a look, if all fails i’ll send you some examples of how it should look when scanned. *O*
If you scan black and white (aka bmp scan) files are not as big as greyscale. Do not worry I have experience, Akira does her inking traditional as well and we managed to figure out best way of scaning by trial and error…best way I think anyway.

i do everything in a4. if i am in need for scanning some a3’s i’m scanning it in two parts *o*= actually not anymore because my scanner sucks *_*= but yeah i’ll have to look through these all shiny scaner websistes where everyone tells u their product is the best -lies Dx

The dummy that I am, I already wrote a lengthy response about what I’ve learned about processing scans for print from friends who do it on a regular basis, even professionally… But then realised that there’s no need. The print quality in Rush 00 was great, very nice and crisp.

Ack! A dollfie — that expensive!? o___o Why… Why… My Epson only cost around… $50-75? And, it’s a scanner / printer / Xerox thing… Must have been a cheap model. Ah, I know nothing about these things… (My dad is the one who buys the hardware, not that he knows more than I do… o___O)

dry: well you see, when it comes to hardware/software poland is too expensive. i have no idea why. my current scanner cost me 200$ - that was 6 years ago, and it’s current price is still 170 $ @_@; but it’s not too good model so i dunno why. it’s max resolution is 1024 Dx plus it’s slow; He survided 6 years of almost non stop scanning though.. If my bro didnt moved i would surely molest him to help me but he is busy with his own work now T^T

Do NOT use Lexmark. It eats scans and spits it out, ruined.
